09. RESEARCH: PURPOSE AND PROCESS
1. Goal
For us to obtain scientific acceptable valid and reliable information on the degree to which the PersonalChampionship® programme has achieved our aspired goals, is to ensure that the outcome of our people development programme answers to scientific operational requirements. To that end research assists us.
2. Ethics
In line with the moral principles that control our behaviour, we at the PersonalChampionship® Company confirm to the following:
1. When working with people, we take cognizance of their feelings, opinions, aspirations and behaviour;
2. Confidentiality, as we have confirmed in our agreement between participants and us, is an immutable condition in our relationship;
3. It may be appropriate to be reminded that research per se do not deal with personal information as such but with the analyses of data-sets, consequently has no interest in identifying personal details.
3. PURPOSE
The first step in the research process is to consider why doing research on a particular topic is justified. PersonalChampionship® is a point in case:
It is when –
Considering the degree of corruption within governments and business organizations, the ongoing catastrophic conflicts within and between countries, the loss of lives, the suffering of civilians, the destruction of societies and the maiming of innocent people;
That the question arises –
How is it possible that the behaviour sciences has lagged so far behind in an age where other fields of scientific discoveries and technological advances are skyrocketing?
It is against these serious humanistic concerns that vision of the PersonalChampionship® programme is stated as:
Developing complete, fully functioning, champion people for the personal and leadership challenges of our time and beyond.
4. research design: Scientific statements
Scientific research commences when three descriptions are clarified, i.e.
1. The scientific problem-statement formulized as a question;
2. A testable proposition (a hypothesis) is formulized as a hypothetical response (answer) to a scientific problem; and
3. In support of the hypothesis, a rationale is offered based on available research findings.
5. COUNTRIES
PersonalChampionship® (Pty) Ltd have drawn up a criterion for the selection of countries and their main cities for the identification of individuals interested in becoming qualified Master of PersonalChampionship® coaches .
The identification, selection and training of people interested in becoming PersonalChampionship® coaches is then the next step.
6. Participant characteristics
Master of PersonalChampionship® participants –
1. Are committed to increasingly realizing their potential in all life spheres important to them.
2. Support the principles associated with scientific reasoning exemplified by creative conversation and methodological problem solving;
3. Agree to uphold PersonalChampionship® business conditions;
4. Concur with the programme methodology as explicated on this website.
7. Participant assessment
The following selection criterium applies:
Master of PersonalChampionship® offers people interested in joining the programme an assessment of their current performance over the behaviour constructs: relatedness, autonomy, competency and goal navigation (For detailed description, see Chapter 08.1.)
Following the assessment, prospective participants individually attends a consultation session during which the assessment results are discussed, and the degree to which the person could benefit from attending the programme is considered.
8. MEASURING Instruments
To exploit the collected data appropriately, hence providing responsible answers to its hypotheses , the following are considered tools:
1. Biographical Entrance Questionnaire;
2. Start-up Relatedness, Autonomy, Competency and Navigation questionnaire;
3. Exploration session assessment prior to enrollment;
4. Workshop participation assignments (prior to workshops);
5. Practicum Score-Card for each after-workshop event;
6. Thirty Factor Self-Assessment questionnaires (N=30 questionnaires);
7. Consultation assessment;
8. Phase performance assessment;
9. Cross-evaluation questionnaires (i.e. feedback from third party);
10. The PersonalChampionship® programme as discussed on this website constitutes the primary participant development instrument.
9. Data management
The following statistical models are examples of the techniques we exploit to assist us in deriving at responsible answers to our scientific questions.
1. Multi Level Modeling over Repeated Measures
2. Structural Equation Modeling
3. Factor analyses
4. Discrimination analysis
5. Step-wise regression analysis
6. Canonical correlations
10. Project results
11. Results interpretation
12. Discussion on the project significance
13. Recommendations flowing from this project
